Looking for the winner of the debate of Breville Nespresso Creatista Plus vs Nespresso Creatista? I think the answer is quite obvious: Nespresso Creatista Plus has the upper hand.

The winner Nespresso Creatista Plus, can brew delicious espresso with very velvety crema. I have tested it many times, and the results are always so satisfying. Also, it boasts a very diverse milk system with many adjustments for milk temperature and texture, more than what Creatista can offer. With such a similar price range, there is no reason why users shouldn’t pick the Plus version over the standard line.

However, don’t consider Creatista to be a “lesser” model because it only has 4 options for milk texture and 5 for milk temperature. In any case, both are from Breville’s ground-breaking Creatista line. The Creatista has the same effect on me regarding espresso quality. With this one, you can taste all the flavor notes, from nutty to sweet.

The device loses to Creatista Plus mostly because of its fewer programming options and slight leaking problem. Other than that, it’s a solid pick for any user.

Breville Nespresso Creatista Plus vs Nespresso Creatista: Differences

Creatista Plus wins 2-0 and ties with Creatista in 3 aspects. First, it offers many more customizable options for its milk system, with less energy consumption than Creatista. Other than that, both devices brew delicious espresso that is worth investing in. Check out what I like and don’t like about each device below!

Espresso flavor and coffee crema

Tie

P.E.R.F.E.C.T.I.O.N! That’s all I can say about these Nespresso machines’ flavor performance. They can brew very delicious cups of espresso with all the flavor notes: sweet, bitter, nutty, soothing, fresh, etc. This is due to the potent 19 bars pump pressure that is able to pull all the flavor notes out from the capsules.

The espresso flavor and the crema quality are worth discussing, too. After pulling each shot, I can see a beautiful layer of crema on top of the liquid espresso. It has a golden caramel color with a smooth texture, unlike the bubbly texture that some Nespresso machines offer.

Heat-Up Time and temperature performance

Tie

With its lightning-fast 3-second heat-up time, the Breville Nespresso Creatista Plus dominates its field. Nespresso Creatista needs 10 seconds to do the same thing. Of course, these are both very impressive numbers, and Creatista shouldn’t be shamed for being 7s slower in self-priming. But if you absolutely detest waiting, Creatista Plus will fulfill your grab-and-go expectation.

However, note that Creatista Plus doesn’t brew espresso as hot as Creatista. So if you want the temperature to reach close to the ideal 170-175°F for drinking, it’s advisable to leave the machine on slightly longer so it can completely warm up.

Milk system’s Settings

Winner: Creatista Plus

+ Temperature

It is best to select the Breville Nespresso Creatista Plus since it has up to 11 different temperature settings for milk if you are concerned that you will be dissatisfied with the milk’s temperature. The variable settings can improve the flavor of milk-based beverages like latte or latte macchiato. Unfortunately, there are just 5 milk temperature choices on Creatista.

The range of temperatures, with 11 separate settings, ranges from 133°F to 169°F. And as a result, you have greater choice over how to customize your morning coffee according to your preference.

I have tested the settings and prefer adjusting the temp at the highest levels. However, I want my milk foam to be hot so it doesn’t cool down my espresso too much, which is not a good thing because no one likes cool-off coffee.

+ Texture

Creatista Plus differs from Creatista by having 8 milk texture levels as opposed to Creatista’s 4 settings. But even with only 4 milk texture options, this little espresso machine makes coffee far more expertly than any other model in its price range.

However, compared to Creatista Plus, the absence of 4 more texture levels means you can’t prepare your latte, macchiato, espresso, lungo, etc., like a skilled barista.

You can make your coffee precisely how you want it with Creatista Plus’ 8 automatic milk froth settings. For true coffee lovers, this unmatched flexibility is ideal.

Milk texture

Tie

Both models do a phenomenal job in terms of milk texture, especially for their price range. Breville claims that Creatista and Creatista Plus are designed to froth microfoam to perfection. And from what I get from these machines after months of using them, the real performance doesn’t stray far from the advertisement. But perfect microfoam isn’t the deal, though.

What I get from the pair is creamy and thick layers of steamed milk and milk foam that are so easy to do latte art and add a thicker texture to the espresso. It’s not too liquidy like most models in this price range offer. Overall, the pair delivers very impressive milk texture close to microfoam, but not as airy and fluffy as microfoam.

Energy consumption

Winner: Creatista Plus

Creatista Plus uses a 120V connection, while Creatista runs on 240V one. This means that Creatista will commonly consume more energy, and you may witness certain changes to your electricity bills if you brew daily with this model and a few times per day. Luckily, both Creatista and Creatista Plus come with the auto shut-off function. So users can easily avoid forgetting leaving them on and paying extra money. This also helps prolong the devices’ lifespan.

Breville Nespresso Creatista Plus vs Nespresso Creatista: Similarities

There are a few important benefits that both Creatista and Creatista Plus can offer, which will greatly affect your home-barista experience. Check them out!

2-tier cup supports

First is the 2-tier cup supports. Thanks to them, users can choose brewing with a taller or shorter cup without worrying about splashing and hectic cleaning. Instead, I pull it out of the machines’ bodies for the upper tier when I need to put it to work. The bottom tier is actually the drip tray, which is standard in espresso machines.

Water tank capacity

Both models are equipped with a 50oz water tank, perfect for daily brewing without requiring too frequent refilling. The tanks should last at least 2 days if 2-3 users brew mixed drinks and froth milk daily.

One-touch recipes

Creatista and Creatista Plus share the same one-touch system that can automatically dispense ristretto, espresso, lungo, caffe latte, cappuccino, and latte macchiato in the correct volume and texture thanks to their 19 bars pump pressure.
