Brewing the perfect espresso or cappuccino is an art form and requires the right equipment. When it comes to espresso machines, there are a lot of options out there. Two common ones are the Delonghi EC155M vs ECP3620. But how do you know which one is the best for you? That’s what we’re here to explore today. In this article, I’ll compare the two machines side-by-side, so you can make an informed decision when it comes time to buy.
The Delonghi EC155M is a good choice for any coffee lover. It has a sleek and stylish design that will look great in any kitchen. This model features a 15-bar pump pressure system, an anti-drip, and a self-priming system for easy use. It also has an adjustable steam wand for producing creamy cappuccinos and lattes. These functions make it stand out compared to its rival.
The Delonghi ECP3620 is the runner-up in this competition. It has a 15 bar pump pressure that ensures a rich and creamy espresso, a milk frother for making cappuccinos and lattes, and different features such as a large water tank or a removable drip tray for easy cleaning. However, it is defeated by the EC155M in terms of performance in some aspects. I’ll explain further in the following section!

Delonghi EC155M vs ECP3620: Differences
With its optimized thermostats, convenient self-priming operation, and cleaning system, along with its anti-drip technology, etc. Delonghi EC155M wins twice and ties once against Delonghi ECP3620.
Brewing Technology
The winner: DeLonghi EC155M
The DeLonghi EC155M offers a unique and beneficial feature that sets it apart from the ECP3620. It has a self-priming system with two separate thermostats to control the water and steam temperatures. This feature allows users to customize their espresso to their exact specifications, ensuring that each cup is perfectly brewed.
In comparison, the ECP3620 only has a thermoblock heating system, which does not provide the same level of precision. This sometimes leads to a less-than-ideal cup of espresso with too much bitterness or not enough flavor.
When I tested out EC155M, there was an instruction manual that said consumers should put a blank pod in the machine and run water through it in order to heat up the machine for the first time, however accidentally, I found that it is not necessary to follow that step all time. I realized that the espresso was hot enough merely by waiting for the indicator light to turn green.
Milk System
The winner: ECP3620
I recently had the pleasure of testing out the DeLonghi EC155M and ECP3620 espresso machines. The EC155M’s manual steam wand was good but quite short and difficult to use with a typical steamer/pitcher. You have to use a frothing pitcher with a smaller diameter if you are going to fit anything larger under the steam tube or position the pitcher on the edge of your counter if you want something larger.
In contrast, the ECP3620’s cappuccino system was much more user-friendly and convenient. The wand is longer and more flexible, making it easier to maneuver in tight spaces. It allowed me to quickly get warm, lightly foamed milk for my lattes and cappuccinos a few steps.
Just flip the steamer wand to the downward position and start frothing your milk in the plastic piece. But be careful not to scorch your milk or cream. Furthermore, the wand is much easier to clean and maintain.
Utility
Ties!
The DeLonghi EC155M and ECP3620 are two excellent coffee machines that offer a range of benefits to make your coffee experience enjoyable. With the DeLonghi EC155M, I love the anti-drip system, which allows me to make coffee without worrying about spills.
Besides, the incorporated coffee tamper evenly distributed grounds for a better-tasting brew. I also appreciate the adjustable steam emission, which allows for more customization, so you can get just the right amount of froth or foam for your latte or cappuccino.
On the other hand, the ECP3620 drip tray indicator has been a great benefit to me in my practical experience. Not only does it help to keep my coffee-making area clean and tidy, but it also saves me time and effort from having to manually measure the water level. Additionally, its removable drip tray accommodates taller cups, which is great for my taller coffee mugs.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The winner: DeLonghi EC155M
After using both machines for some time, I can confidently say that the Delonghi EC155M is much better for cleaning and maintenance. The removable parts are easy to access, and the machine is very simple to clean, making it a great choice for busy households.
On the other hand, I had some issues with the ECP3620, where water was leaking out of the machine. This issue was not only annoying but also time-consuming to fix. In addition, every cup must be disassembled in order to clean the clogged hole on the bottom of the coffee holder. It’s a pain since I frequently make six every morning.
Delonghi EC155M vs ECP3620: Similarities
Despite being different models, Delonghi EC155M vs ECP3620 shares a number of similarities. Let’s scroll down and discover in detail!
15-Bar Bump Pressure
Regarding similarities, the noticeable one is that the Delonghi EC155M and ECP3620 offer 15-bar pump pressure. From a practical perspective, this is an important factor to consider when choosing an espresso machine.
This feature ensures that the pressure is consistent and even, resulting in a quality espresso shot every time. Additionally, it will allow for faster extraction and more efficient use of the coffee grounds, resulting in a better-tasting espresso.
Compatible with “Easy Serving Espresso” pods
Both Delonghi EC155M and ECP3620 are user-friendly espresso machines that are compatible with “Easy Serving Espresso” pods. This makes it incredibly easy to use, as all you need to do is insert the pod and press the button.
The machine will then automatically grind the beans, extract the espresso, and dispense it into your cup. This makes it perfect for those just starting out with espresso, as it eliminates the need to learn the techniques of grinding and tamping.
