Let’s get down to the bottom of the battle Gaggia Accademia vs Breville Oracle! These mid-range to high-end espresso machines have caught my attention. And undoubtedly, I have to compare them! So, after considering all aspects, Gaggia Accademia convinces me much more.

Gaggia Accademia boasts a highly ergonomic system that allows users to engage in 100% hands-free brewing activity. It extracts amazingly bold and rich espresso flavor, and I’m very impressed with the full-bodied texture of the drinks as well. The convenience doesn’t stop there. Cleaning the device shouldn’t be tough with its dedicated button for cleaning. If you are looking for a stable and worthwhile mid-range model, I highly recommend it!

Like most of Breville’s machines, Breville Oracle is built to make espresso. This statement is both positive and negative. The model can extract delicious espresso with an authentic, fresh flavor. But other than espresso, it doesn’t offer any other creative one-touch recipe like latte or cappuccino. Nevertheless, this is still a potent and consistent model.

Gaggia Accademia vs Breville Oracle: Differences

Gaggia Accademia wins 3-1 and ties once against Breville Oracle. I find the overall design of Gaggia Accademia much better than Breville Oracle, especially when considering users’ convenience. I think the machine is beginner-friendly but most suitable for intermediate users. Check out my verdict for more information.

Level of automation

Winner: Gaggia Accademia

Gaggia Accademia is a true super-automatic machine that handles all brewing processes for owners. As for Breville Oracle, it requires manual intervention when users handle the portafilter, from grinding beans to dispensing espresso.

Breville’s signature design involves a separate chamber where the fresh grounds are dispensed into the portafilter when it’s clicked in place. And then, users have to remove it from the grinding chamber and attach it to the distributor’s mouth.

With Gaggia Accademia, no intervention during the brewing process is required. Instead, you simply pick the beverage you want, and the device will handle the rest of the process.

Espresso flavor and texture

Tie!

In the flavor department, I have nothing to complain about Gaggia Accademia and Breville Oracle. They both do a phenomenal job of extracting bold and authentic espresso flavor. They are also very consistent too. I haven’t caught myself with lousy espresso with these models.

Most of the time, there will be bad days when the pump pressure doesn’t function correctly, or the is something wrong with the grinder. Even though this isn’t something common, it happens with most machines. I have never found the same errors with Gaggia Accademia and Breville Oracle.

I think the perfect extractions are all the results of the low-pressure pre-infusion. The point of this feature is to make sure that water goes through the entire puck so that every ounce the extracted espresso is balanced. As a result, all notes of flavor stand out authentic.

One-touch beverages

Winner: Gaggia Accademia

There is no way Breville Oracle can surpass Gaggia Accademia in this aspect. Judging from the fact that Gaggia Accademia has one-touch milk-based recipes while Oracle doesn’t, the later model already falls behind.

The one-touch recipes of each machine are:

  • Gaggia Accademia: espresso, caffe, caffe lungo, cappuccino, latte macchiato, and latte.
  • Breville Oracle: espresso, double espresso, long black, and hot water.

Since we are looking at household-graded espresso machines, I think it’s much better to use a super-automatic machine like Gaggia Accademia. Its convenient one-touch recipes will make your brewing experience much faster.

Milk system and foaming performance

Winner: Gaggia Accademia

Gaggia Accademia is one of those unique machines that are designed with a dual milk system, including both a steam wand and a milk carafe. For me, this is such a great plus. Of course, automation is good, but switching between manual milk frothing and hands-free foaming allows a much more diverse experience.

Texture-wise, I have tested the potency of both Gaggia Accademia and Breville Oracle, and this pair doesn’t struggle a bit at making microfoam that cappuccino lovers need.

However, I notice that Gaggia Accademia can froth drier and airier foam than Breville Oracle if I program the machine to make latte macchiato. So if you are into creamy milk and don’t require dry foam, Breville Oracle has fun and classic milk system that you can enjoy. But, if not, the microfoam quality of Gaggia Accademia is to die for. And it’s possible to pull creamy milk with the steam wand.

Built-In Grinder

The winner: Breville Oracle

One of Oracle’s main advantages is its built-in grinder. This built-in grinder is superior to the majority of others. For example, there are 40 distinct settings. And the espresso range now has 40 settings. In addition, direct grinding into your portafilter is a feature that the grinder can provide.

You may alter the quantity of coffee ground used to create unique shots based on your tastes. The Oracle grinder also has an automatic tamper that will level and tamp your coffee grinds to provide the best extraction conditions.

There are just 8 options for the Gaggia Accademia’s grinder settings. But, I want to emphasize that less doesn’t mean inconvenience. 8 settings are more than enough, it simply offers fewer choices for customization, but I doubt you will use more. Because personally, I don’t.

Gaggia Accademia vs Breville Oracle: Similarities

There are 2 major similarities between Gaggia Accademia and Breville Oracle that I want to highlight. Check them out below!

Cup warming tray

A small yet important feature on all espresso machines: the cup warming tray. Both Gaggia Accademia and Breville Oracle have a dedicated tray to preheat cups so that the coffee comes out hot and its temp doesn’t drop too quickly. I prefer the tray on Breville Oracle because it’s bigger. But it’s nice to see the machines coming in a whole package with all the ergonomic aspects in the scene.

Compatible with preground coffee

Of course, we all need a bypass doser when purchasing an espresso machine. Who knows when we will run out of whole beans, want to try other roasts, or simply want a decaf shot? That’s when the bypass doser comes in handy, and luckily Gaggia Accademia and Breville Oracle don’t overlook this aspect. You will be surprised by how many machines on the market don’t have a powder chute.
