When it comes to the Jura C60 vs C65 showdown, a comparison between two coffee machines in the Jura Impressa line-up. It’s a tough call because they have more similarities than differences.

Personally, I lean towards the Jura C65. Why? Well, its built-in grinder is not only faster, but it’s also quieter. No need to wake up the whole house just to enjoy your morning brew. And it comes in a different color.

The Jura C60 is no slouch. Except its grinder operates a little bit louder than that of the Jura C65, It still has all the fancy features and cool tech stuff just like its counterpart.

Jura C60 vs C65: Differences

The C65 can be considered an enhanced version of the C60, primarily due to its upgraded grinder. Although they come in different colors, that factor alone isn’t the decisive factor.

Grinder

Winner: Jura C65

Jura C65 bean hopper and grinder

At a glance, the grinder of Jura C60 vs C65’s are similar since both use stainless steel conical burr grinders.

However, after using them and closely examining their performance, I found that the grinder in the Jura C65 is slightly quieter and faster than the one in the C60. Now, don’t get me wrong! The C60 is already pretty quiet, and you won’t notice a major difference just by listening with your ears.

To figure out what caused the disparity, I decided to take the machines apart and dig deeper. It turns out that the burr angle in the C65 is slightly different, resulting in a quieter operation and slightly more precise grinding. The C65 also grinds coffee a bit faster.

As a longtime coffee drinker, I can tell you that a more consistent grind of Jura C65 leads to a more consistent and flavorful coffee brewing process.

Grind Settings

Both the Jura C60 and C65 offer the ability to adjust the grind size of your coffee.  However, they only provide a limited selection of 5 grind settings.

Now, if you’re just starting to dive into the world of coffee drinks, these settings will be sufficient for a few months of experimentation. However, as you become more experienced and develop a discerning palate, you may find yourself desiring more flexibility in grind size.

Appearance

Winner: Tie

When it comes to appearances, the casing is the first and only thing you’ll notice that sets the Jura C60 and C65 apart.

Both models feature the classic black and silver color combination that you can see in many other Jura machines. The C60 keeps it sleek with an all-black design, while adding subtle silver accents for a touch of elegance. On the other hand, the C65 introduces two silver front panels, giving it a more striking appearance.

Which color is more appealing? Well, that’s a matter of personal preference and what matches the style of your kitchen. Both options have their own unique charm, and it’s important to me that both models maintain a sleek and modern aesthetic.

Jura C60 vs C65: Similarities

The Jura C60 and C65 are indeed like twins. While there may be some minor differences between them, they share many common features and functionalities. From their sleek design to their performance capabilities, these two machines are cut from the same cloth.

Brewing Technique

Heating System

When it comes to the heating system, both the Jura C60 and C65 use a single boiler with Thermoblock technology. This means that we can’t steam milk and brew coffee at the same time, resulting in a slight delay between these processes.

However, don’t worry, we won’t have to wait all morning! Of course. But I mean thanks to Thermoblock technology, these machines heat up quickly to the ideal temperature for brewing or steaming, reducing the wait time to just a few seconds. So, we can enjoy our favorite coffee drink without any major delays.

Pump Pressure

If you’re a true espresso lover, you know that having the right pump pressure is crucial for a rich and satisfying brew. Fortunately, both the C60 and C65 have got you covered in this department. These machines boast a powerful 15 bar pump system, ensuring that you can achieve cafe-quality results with every shot. So, you can say goodbye to weak and disappointing brews and enjoy the full-bodied flavors of a well-extracted espresso.

Weight21.2 lb22 lbs

When it comes to weight and size, the Jura C60 and C65 are pretty much in the same ballpark. The C60 weighs around 21.2 pounds, while the C65 tips the scales at a slightly heftier 22 pounds.

As for their dimensions, both machines are about 11 x 13.6 x 16.1 inches (28 x 34.5 x 41 centimeters) in size. They’re not too big and not too small – just the right fit for my kitchen counter. You won’t have to worry about them hogging all the space or being a pain to move around if you need to.

Water Tank & Bean Hopper

The water tank, bean hopper, and coffee grounds container capacities are exactly the same for both the Jura C60 and C65. That’s more than enough if you’re a coffee beast or have a whole squad of coffee lovers at home. It’s definitely one of the highlights of these machines that I really dig.

You have the option to use a Claris Blue water filter with both models, and I highly recommend it. Sure, you’ll have to replace the filter periodically, but trust me, the benefits are totally worth it. Firstly, the filtration system ensures cleaner water, which translates to better coffee quality. And secondly, with clean water, you can say goodbye to the hassle of descaling your machine. It’s a real time-saver! Investing in a Claris Blue water filter is a smart move that will elevate your coffee experience to a whole new level.

Coffee Specialties

Jura C60 and Jura C65 are perfect for those who prefer simplicity in their coffee drinks. These machines only focus on delivering two classic options: coffee and espresso.

Now, if you’re dreaming of one-touch cappuccinos or lattes, I have to break it to you – these machines don’t come with that convenience. But don’t worry, they still have a milk system that allows you to create milk-based drinks. The process is just a little more hands-on. You’ll need to froth your milk separately and then either pour the espresso into the milk foam or the milk foam into the espresso.

Milk Frothing System

Both the Jura C60 and C65 come with an auto-frother. However, I think Jura could have stepped up their game by including a dedicated milk container with these machines. But don’t worry, you’ve got alternatives! Whether it’s a glass, a pitcher, or even the ol’ milk carton, it still work.

We have to tilt the Jura C60/C65's milk frother to the right to fit the tall cup

The placement of the milk dispenser spout, which is where things get a little tricky. Instead of being positioned near the coffee spouts, Jura decided to put it on the right-side panel. This means you’ll have to move your cup back and forth between the two as you make your drink. And if your cup is too large, it can’t fit under the frother. Don’t panic! Just place your cup next to the machine and tilt the frother to the right. It’s a slight inconvenience, but not a deal-breaker.

So, while the setup may look a bit unprofessional, the quality of the froth will definitely meet your expectations. Jura’s “fine frothing” technology ensures consistently excellent froth, delivering a near-professional level of microfoam.

Utilities

Energy- saving mode

Let’s dive into a couple of cool features that you’ll find on both the C60 and C65 machines. One of them is the energy save mode (ESM), and I have to say, it’s pretty helpful. With ESM, I can customize how much energy my machine uses during those times when I’m not making coffee. Plus, these machines are ESM-equipped, which means they can save up to 40% of energy compared to non-ESM machines. So not only am I saving energy, but I’m also saving some bucks on my electricity bill.

Cup Warmer

Both the C60 and C65 have an awesome feature that can make a big difference in keeping your coffee nice and hot – cup warmers! hey’re conveniently located at the top of the machines.

Sometimes, I set the highest temperature setting (which, by the way, you can adjust on both models), sometimes it’s still not hot enough for my liking. That’s where the cup warming tray comes to the rescue!

By pre-warming my cup, the heat from my drink stays put and doesn’t get lost in a cold cup. It’s a simple trick that can make a huge difference in the temperature of your coffee. So, if you’re a fan of piping hot coffee, don’t forget to use the cup warming tray.

Bypass Doser

Another cool feature that both the C60 and C65 have – a two-scoop bypass doser for using ground coffee. You know those times when you’re feeling a bit lazy and don’t want to bother grinding your own beans? Just scoop in your desired amount of ground coffee, and voila, you’re all set for a delicious cup. It’s perfect for those late-night cravings or when you’re in the mood for decaf.

So, whether you’re feeling adventurous with other ground beans or just want the convenience of using pre-ground coffee, these machines have got you covered.
