Are you ready for the final result of the debate of Jura D6 vs Gaggia Anima Prestige? It is here! Thanks to its good pricing and proper espresso extraction, Gaggia Anima Prestige has my trust as the true winner.
Gaggia Anima Prestige is a well-deserving winner. It never fails to craft the ideal amount of milk foam, a flavorful espresso, and the ideal morning temperature. In addition, its pre-infusion technology makes the flavor notes more balanced, and the overall taste is bolder. You’ll be impressed by the leak-free functioning as well, especially if you’ve had experience with one that leaks and needs the water tank to be constantly refilled.
The Jura D6 has a speedy built-in grinder, adjustable coffee volume and strength settings, and a quick fine-foam frother. This one is for you if you’re looking for a machine that brews beans into cups with incredible flavor. However, I’m not the biggest fan of its singular and minimalistic interface. Even though it’s not impossible to manage, it’s not very beginner-friendly.

Jura D6 vs Gaggia Anima Prestige: Differences
Gaggia Anima Prestige wins 3-0 and ties twice against Jura D6. It boasts pre-infusion technology and delicious espresso as a result. There are many aspects that both machines do equally well, though. I will give you the full details below!
Espresso extraction
Winner: Gaggia Anima Prestige
Brewing technique
Gaggia Anima Prestige brews using low-pressure pre-infusion technology and 15-bar pump pressure. The pre-infusion uses a tiny amount of water without applying any noticeable pressure to soak the coffee ground pre-brewing. It may sound like something trivial. After all, the coffee puck is wet after extracting.
But that’s not the brilliance of the idea. In fact, some machines apply pressure too quickly, too strongly, or too weakly, so the water doesn’t run through the coffee ground evenly. That’s why the pre-infusion technique must be. It makes sure that the entire puck is wet, ensuring that the extraction will be more even.
As for Jura D6, being quite a simple machine is equipped with a 15-bar pump pressure only and doesn’t have any special brewing technology to support it. But flavor-wise, it’s still doing a good job. In the long run, though, the pre-infusion of Gaggia Anima Prestige will be more favorable as the pump pressure gradually wears out.
Heating element
Jura D6’s Thermoblock is more favorable than the single boiler on Gaggia Anima Prestige. It heats up quickly and usually is more consistent with the temperature control than single boilers. But so far, I have been able to extract very hot cups with both devices. So I won’t advise against Gaggia Anima Prestige either.
On another note, remember that a higher-tier heating element always increases the overall price of the machine. That explains why Jura D6 is much more expensive than Gaggia Anima Prestige, even though it may not have as many advanced technologies as it appears.
Grinder
Regarding the grinders, they do an equally good job at delivering fine ground with variable course settings without making too much noise. Jura D6’s grinder is from generation AromaG2, it’s a bit slower than the G3, but the technology still does its job. With Jura D6, there are 6 levels of coarseness. With Gaggia Anima Prestige, you can choose from 5.
One-touch system
Tie
Gaggia Anima Prestige can make a total of 6 different recipes, 1 more than Jura D6. Since the gap isn’t too big, I think they stand on almost equal grounds. In case you are a big latte macchiato lover, though, it’s wiser to go with Gaggia Anima Prestige because it boasts this one-touch recipe.
The list of beverages are:
- Jura D6: espresso, coffee, cappuccino, portion of milk foam, and hot water
- Gaggia Anima Prestige: espresso, espresso lungo, cappuccino, latte macchiato, milk froth, and hot water
Milk frother
Tie
With their 100% automatic milk carafes, Jura D6 and Gaggia Anima Prestige take away the responsibility of manually swirling a milk pitcher around to get the right foam texture, succeeding or failing. With the milk carafe, it will always be a success because the devices handle every step of the way to deliver microfoam that sits beautifully right on top of the espresso.
I have tested the milk frothers many times. And the latte macchiato that Gaggia Anima Prestige makes always has my full attention. The separations are neat, and the balanced flavor between milk and espresso always is a good experience. I trust these machines’ milk frother and one-touch system.
Interface
Winner: Gaggia Anima Prestige
I have commented on Jura D6’s interface many times. And all the times I mention it, I dislike it. The entire program is crammed into one single rotary switch. This gives the device a sleek and clean look, but it removes the practical daily use I seek in every electronic device.
As for Anima Prestige, its classic button control is easy for any novice user to manage. When selecting the one-touch recipes, I also find it more convenient since the most-brewed recipes are already on the main control panel.
How do you perceive these devices’ interface?
Beginner-friendly
Winner: Gaggia Anima Prestige
Gaggia Anima Prestige, with its more affordable price range, variable presets, easy-to-use interface, is more beginner-friendly than Jura D6. It’s not easy to suddenly decide on purchasing an expensive home appliance that we don’t know will work well or not, so it’s always nice to have a more affordable option while not skimming money on a cheap machine with outdated brewing features.
Gaggia Anima Prestige is easy to use and has great value for price!
