The choice between the Jura E8 vs. J6 may vary depending on the needs of each espresso drinker. But in my own experience, the Jura E8 deserves to be the winner.
The E8 is lightweight, compact, and user-friendly to use. Moreover, it has much more coffee selections, fast heating, and a smooth & superior milk frothing system.
The J6 is a bit more expensive as it comes with an Aroma G3 grinder and the vertical as horizontal spout adjustment. For the rest, the E8 has the same, even better, features as the Jura J6.

Jura E8 vs. J6: Key Differences
Jura E8 wins 3 – 2 against the Jura J6 as it is a more user-friendly and compact model for daily brewing. In addition, it is sold for less than the J6, although they share almost all features.
1. Espresso Taste
The Winner: It’s a tie.
Coffee Grinder
The J6 and the E8 both have a steel conical burr grinder. But the J6 is equipped with the Aroma G3 grinder, while the E8 is only Aroma, meaning it is one level lower than the J6.
This makes a significant difference in design and even performance. The Aroma G3 has widely spaced blades, allowing it to cover more ground. This leads to more even and fine extraction and minimizes ground wastage. Moreover, it will heat up less, even if you use it continuously for a long time.
On the flip side, the Aroma grinder is consistent and fast. Yet, it will heat up slightly after intense cup-after-cup use.
Regarding the durability of these grinders, maybe I need more time to get the correct answer. But according to most reviews on Amazon, the stainless steel blades of the E8 are more durable.
The P.E.P (Pulse Extraction Process) and Thermoblock Technology
These technologies significantly affect the quality of espresso that an espresso maker offers. If you’ve been following Jura for a while, you won’t feel unfamiliar with them, as they are equipped on most models of this brand, and the E8 and the J6 are no exception.
The PEP Technology ensures the aromas in the beans fully develop, resulting in super-smooth cups of coffee.
In addition, the Thermoblock heating system can reduce energy consumption and maintain a constant high brewing temperature for both coffee and milk.
2. Milk System
The Winner: The Jura E8.
This is a battle between the basic fine foam frother of the J6 and the professional fine foam G2 frother of the E8.
The Fine Foam G2 features more secure fittings with an adjustable knob, allowing manual transition. It will make latte macchiato and other beverages with the best fine-textured foam. It lets you choose your desired milk texture as well.
The Fine Foam frother of the Jura J6 also offers decent hot milk and milk foam, but it requires faster replacement if used daily.
3. Utilities
The Winner: The Jura E8.
Control Panel
Without a touchscreen like the more modern Jura models, the E8 and the J6 feature a TFT display with push buttons and a rotary switch. So you’ll get a classic and slightly modern way of making coffee at home.
Smart Connect App
You can connect these coffee machines to your phone via the JOE ® app that brings all the functions of JURA automatic machines to your smartphone/tablet. That way, you can activate and adjust your machine without leaving your desk.
Furthermore, you can save up to three of your favorite coffee specialties on Apple Watch, and JOE ® continuously synchronizes the last drink prepared with your device.
I love this convenient feature as it allows me to prepare my favorite specialty coffees whenever I like using my personalized settings with just one tap.
Features & Accessories
The J6 and E8 share a set of features. Some outstanding features are Pulse Extraction Process and JURA Fine Foam technology. Moreover, both machines have a built-in frother and grinder.
However, there are three grinder settings on the E8, while the J6 offers only one option.
These machines also differ in beverage menus. The E8 offers a longer list of drinks, including 17 different one-touch brewing options. Meanwhile, Jura J6’s menu includes fewer drinks. Both machines allow you to brew two cups in one cycle.
A more diverse menu allows the Jura J6 to appeal to many coffee lovers. So, the J6, no doubt, hands down wins this category.
4. Capacity
The Winner: The Jura J6.
The Jura J8 boasts a 64-ounce water reservoir and a 10-ounce hopper, while the J6 is packaged with a 71-ounce water reservoir and a 9-ounce hopper. This difference is negligible, and I will not choose a winner based on this criterion.
Instead, these two machines have significant differences in their milk tanks.
The built-in milk tank helps create milk foam to make cappuccinos and lattes. That means it is unnecessary to make the milk separately and add it yourself. You can only get this convenient feature from the Jura J6, while it cannot be found on the E8.
As a fan of cappuccinos, I would definitely lean toward the Jura J6. As a result, the J6 is the winner in this round.
Jura E8 vs. J6: Main Similarities
1. Design and Convenience
At first glance, these units have similar designs with the same features, such as dual spouts, a screen display, and a milk frother.
Sadly they don’t have a touch screen, which I always expect from a Jura coffee machine. So instead of touching the screen, you need to use buttons to adjust the settings.
2. Size
Regarding the exact dimensions, the Jura E8 has a dimension of 13.8 x 17.3 x 11 inches with a weight of 26.49 pounds, whereas its J6 counterpart measures 13.5 x 17 x 11.2 inches and weighs about 24 pounds. Both have a small footprint, allowing them to take up little space on your kitchen countertop.
When it comes to colors, the E8 comes in black and stainless steel, while the J6 only delivers the silver option. Just choose according to your preference.
3. Cleaning & Maintenance
Cleaning the coffee machine after each use is essential to prolong its life and ensure you get a delicious coffee taste. Fortunately, both machines feature easy and quick cleaning cycles. They can be set to low-energy mode, auto turn-off, and rinsing with just the press of a button.
The Jura J6 comes with the CLEARYL water filter, while the E8 has a Claris water filter. Thanks to that, they do a great job of maintaining a clog-free environment for espresso extraction or milk frothing.
