Jura E8 vs WE8: Differences

It’s a tie between the Jura E8 and WE8 (4 – 4). Both are incredibly useful and provide numerous advantages to the user. The Jura WE8 is more of a commercial-grade machine, made to serve multiple people at once, while the Jura E8 is better suited to a single or two people.

1. Coffee Flavor

The Winner: Jura WE8

+ Grinder

Since the Jura WE8 is designed for high commercial use, it comes with the latest coffee grinder, which is the Multi-level Aroma G3 grinder. It is an upgrade of Professional Aroma Grinder on the Jura E8.

This indicates that the Jura WE8’s grinder is a more efficient than the E8. The Jura E8 is also noisier, which is an aspect of the E8 that can be considered a drawback.

However, this is only what the brand claims. When I tried it on my own, I didn’t see a significant difference between the two. With both of these coffee machines In both of , the grinder ensures that we get the most flavorful and nuanced coffee.

+ Adjustable Coffee Settings

Not everyone likes the flavor made by the default settings. To be able to stay awake during the day, I always desire a stronger cup of coffee. And fortunately, both of these machine allow me to adjust the strength, temperature of coffee to suit my taste.

On Jura E8, we can choose from 10 coffee strength levels, 3 brewing temperature levels. On the other hand, on the WE8, there are only 8 coffee strength levels and 2 brewing temperature levels.

Even while this may not seem like a significant difference, it is something that should be taken into consideration.

2. Utilities

The Winner: It’s A Tie!

+ Coffee Specialties

Jura E8's one-touch system is very impressive
Jura E8’s one-touch system is very impressive

With the Jura E8, you’ll have the ability to make a wider variety of coffee drinks by one touch of a button. While the Jura E8 can hold 17 beverages, the WE8 can hold only 12.

Here is a list of beverage that the Jura E8 offers but the WE8 doesn’t. They are:  Caffè Barista, Lungo Barista, Espresso Macchiato, Cappuccino Extra Shot and Latte macchiato Extra Shot. However, if you are not a fan of these drinks, Jura We8 sill satisfy you just fine.

But to be fair, the One-Touch capability of the Jura E8 is more advanced than the WE8 despite the fact that the Jura WE8 costs more than the Jura E8.

+ Milk Spout

The milk spout on the Jura E8 comes with two adjustable settings. You can position the dial vertically to adjust the milk foam and horizontally to only heat the milk. The dial positioning is not available on the Jura WE8’s milk spout. Its Fine Foam Frother allows direct adjustment from the control panel by selecting the drink of your choice.

The milk spout on the Jura E8 has two different settings that you can change to your preference. You can place the dial horizontally to only heat the milk, or you can move it vertically to create the milk foam. The dial positioning function is not present on the milk spout of the Jura WE8. It has a Fine Foam Frother that can be changed directly from the control panel by choosing the drink you want.

The Fine Foam FrotherG2 on the spout of the Jura E8 allows for greater personalization. This allows you to modify the milk foam’s texture to your liking.

3. Capacity

The Winner: It’s a Tie!

Between the Jura E8 vs WE8, the WE8 made for a bigger volume. It has a larger capacity for both the water tank and the bean hopper. In fact, the difference between the capacities of the two machines is not minor but major!

Jura WE8 has a large water tank capacity
Jura WE8 has a large water tank capacity

The Jura E8 features a 280-gram bean hopper and a 64-ounce water tank. For my family, there are only 2 people drinking the coffee beverages, so this capacity is enough and suitable. You won’t have to worry about it crowding your countertop. It also does not require you to refill after only a few drinks.

Meanwhile, the water tank on the Jura WE8 is a massive 101 ounce, and it has a bean hopper that can hold 500 grams. As a result, unlike the Jura E8, you won’t need to refill it as often. The capacities of the WE8 are almost exactly twice as much as those of the Jura E8.

Though, this doesn’t have a big effect on how much the Jura WE8 weighs. The Jura E8 is 21.8 pounds, and the Jura WE8 is 22.1 pounds. The Jura WE8 is a few inches higher than its counterpart, the E8. The height of the WE8 is 16.5 inches, while the height of the E8 is 13.8 inches. Nevertheless, both machines have the same width and depth dimensions.

I should also mention that the coffee ground container of the WE8 can hold up to 25 used coffee pucks, while the E8 can only hold up to 16.

So on the basis of what’s comfortable, I think the WE8 is a wise choice because it allows less frequent refills without compromising on weight or size. It’s still as compact and lightweight as the Jura E8, whose bean hopper and water tank are much smaller.

4. Milk System

The Winner: Jura E8

The Jura E8’s milk system is the Professional Fine Foam FrotherG2, while the Jura We8 uses the Fine Foam Frother. The G2 is certainly an upgrade; it is able to produce milk foam or steamed milk of the highest possible quality to top specialties such as flat white, cappuccino, latte macchiato, and so on.
With the Fine Foam Frother G2, you have the ability to adjust the texture of the milk according to the beverage you choose. In fact, this system automatically adjusts the milk to correspond with the drink option you select via the control panel of the Jura E8.

In addition, the Jura E8 comes equipped with an automatic milk rinse that thoroughly cleans the milk system after every usage. The actual cleaning is done extremely quickly and effectively, and it removes any milk residue that may have been left behind.

5. Cleaning & Maintenance

The Winner: Jura WE8

The Jura WE8 is a commercial-quality espresso machine. This means that it has cutting-edge, speed-driven features for reliable use. It can make up to 30 espresso drinks per day, which is quite a lot.

Now, you must wonder if cleaning will be hard after 30 espresso drinks, right? Luckily, the cleaning process on the Jura WE8 is completely automatic. Every step, like descaling the machine, rinsing and cleaning the milk system, brew group, etc., is automatic by touching just one button. Therefore, even after extensive use, you won’t need to bother setting a reminder to do this.

As a result, the Jura WE8 is superior to the Jura E8, which only includes cleaning indicator lights. Around 80 cycles are the average marker for descaling a Jura machine. The Jura E8 will alert you when this step is necessary. However, unlike the WE8, it does not descale itself automatically.

6. Price

The Winner: Jura E8

If you find a machine that has a more reasonable price, then the Jura E8 would be my recommendation. Although these two machines function almost the same, the Jura E8 will save you $300 in compared to the Jura WE8.

Therefore, the Jura E8 is your best option if you only need a coffee maker that can serve just one or two people. On the other hand, you might pay a higher price to acquire a larger space that can handle more people.

Jura E8 vs WE8: Similarities

1. By-Pass Doser

A bypass doser allows the machines to use pre-ground coffee. And the Jura E8 and WE8 both have this feature.

When you use coffee grounds, you can still customize coffee volume, strength, and temperature, like what you can do when using coffee beans.

Even with pre-ground coffee or decaf, both machines are able to produce espresso that is flavorful and aromatic because of the use of PEP and Thermoblock.

2. Dual Spout

The dual spout on the Jura E8 and WE8 allows you to prepare two individual servings of espresso or coffee during a single brewing cycle. This allows the machine to work more quickly and produces a robust, flavorful, and aromatic espresso without sacrificing any crema.

You can double the amount of espresso by choosing the 2x option, which is on both. It is an excellent option for people who desire double as much intensity or want to prepare a more substantial coffee. In addition to this, it is an excellent option for simultaneously brewing coffee for two persons.

3. Utilities

The Jura E8 and the Jura WE8 have a color TFT display with buttons and a rotary dial. This interface is highly nice to users and works quite effectively. The interface provides access to everything, from frothing milk and customizing the coffee to receiving cleaning alerts and more.

The Smart Connect app allows users to control both espresso machines from their mobile devices. You can now make adjustments using your phone, like any other social media. You need to know how the spout works on an espresso cup, and you’ll be able to prepare a cup of coffee without physically approaching the espresso machine.
