After putting these espresso machines to the test, I quickly determined the Jura We8 vs X8 comparison’s winner. The outcome is Jura We8.
The winning Jura We8 is quite consistent throughout the entire process, from grinding the coffee to brewing and finally cleaning. With a modest number of outputs each day, the machine’s 101oz water tank can produce enough coffee for a whole family in around 3 days. Another excellent example is milk foaming. I advise any homeowner to get this model.
With Jura X8, users can enjoy the huge 167.3oz water tank that effectively serves a larger population. And the milk system, which typically froths dry foam for a great cup of cappuccino, is another plus point for the device. However, the same milk system has troubled me after months of using the device. I will share more info below

Jura We8 vs X8: Differences
Jura We8 wins 2-1 and ties once against Jura X8. It’s designed with better consistency and can brew hot espresso without any problem. Its milk system also impresses me more. So check out my full review to know each machine’s benefits and contrasts.
Grinder‘s performance
Tie
I haven’t had any issues with the grinders in these espresso makers. We may select from 6 settings on the Aroma G3 technology to grind our coffee into fine or coarse grounds. They use conical burr grinders, which preserve coffee flavor in its purest form. I think 6 settings are enough for a variable home-barista experience. And from my experience with the pair, they adjust beautifully and deliver level coffee grounds.
Regarding the sound, I have a comment. It doesn’t take long for We8 and X8 to complete the step, which takes around 5s, and they are rather quiet while doing so.
Heating system
Winner: Jura X8
We8 only has one thermoblock, whereas X8 has a superior heating system with a dual thermoblock, which accounts for the differences in coffee and milk temperature that both models can provide.
With X8, the temperature of the coffee is extremely high (180–190°F), and we may reach this level by preheating the machine for 5 minutes.
I tried to brew coffee on We8 five minutes after turning it on, as I do with X8 because I had read several people’s reviews about how warm the coffee was. It follows that the temperature isn’t as hot (around 170°F), but it is still good. So, I leave Jura We8 to heat longer (10 to 15 minutes), and the temperature increases slightly at around 175°F.
With these models’ amazing brewing temperature, I have pulled very rich cups with full flavor notes and nice crema.
Milk system
Winner: Jura We8
There are many things I want to comment on regarding these machines’ milk systems. First, the pair employs an external milk carafe/ container that users can connect to the device via a tube. In fact, it doesn’t have to be a professionally designed container. You only need the tube from the machine and any container where you can store milk. The frothing process is 100% automatic.
With Jura We8, I notice much better stability in frothing milk. In addition, it offers decent milk temperature, not as hot as many would expect, but still good enough, nevertheless. And the machine never fails to deliver creamy and rich foam layers for drinks like lattes or flat whites. As for dry microfoam, it’s not this model’s specialty.
In the case of the Jura X8, it impresses me so much at first, only to drag my mood down later. When I first got the machine, it was able to froth from creamy milk to microfoam. This allowed me to make from mocha to cappuccino with ease. However, the performance didn’t last long. After a few months of brewing and frothing milk, I noticed instability. The device failed to froth milk and started dispensing splashes of water instead.
Value for price
Winner: Jura We8
With the prices and values the pair offers, Jura We8 is a much better investment than X8. X8 indeed offers more one-touch beverages, which is the sole reason why users struggle to consider between the 2. Still, I don’t find its operational stability worthy of its hefty price tag. Moreover, it’s definitely not for the faint of heart.
As for We8, I have had this machine for much longer than X8, and it has never disappointed me. It has a good brewing temperature and an impressive set of one-touch recipes with milk-based beverages, and it’s consistent with every brewing and frothing step overall. With its much lower price, I recommend Jura We8 over X8 any day.
Jura We8 vs X8: Similarities
Check out the 2 important similarities between Jura We8 and X8 below!
Large drip tray
This may seem like an insignificant feature, but users will appreciate it if they have owned an espresso machine with a tiny water tank before. For machines like these with the hiper-active auto-purge feature, it’s necessary to have a large drip tray to avoid overspilling and messing up your kitchen table.
These machines will automatically rinse when turned on or off or after 10 minutes of milk frothing. The rinsing is constant, so it’s nice to have a large tray. Users must consider this aspect when buying a super-automatic machine with an auto-purge feature.
Water tank capacity
Both espresso machines have substantial water tanks. We8 has a capacity of 101 oz, but X8 has a capacity of 167.3 oz. So, both offer quite a comfortable refilling schedule due to their bigger tank sizes.
Since their water reservoirs are big, many users expect to put them up for commercial use in their coffee shops or large offices. However, other machines are more suited for business than the X8 and We8 based on their stability. The Jura We8 and X8 are complete kits for home use.
