The Jura WE8 vs Z8 debate is between two machines that clearly do not belong in the same price range. The WE8 is more budget-friendly, whereas the Z8 is more reliable and well-optimized. After all, I find Jura Z8 to be the ultimate winner as the perfect espresso machine for homeowners.
For me, Jura Z8 is the absolute winner. This model is designed to brew robust coffees with 21 convenient pre-programmed drinks. The touchscreen control is very instuitive that make its counterpart lagged behind. This machine is suitable for almost every home.
As for the runner-up Jura WE8, It is a trustworthy appliance that can prepare enough beverage for a small office with the quality of a professional barista thank to its huge water tank and bean hopper.

Jura WE8 vs Z8: Differences
Jura Z8 wins 3 -1 against Jura WE8 thanks to its consistent espresso extraction, dual heating system, many coffee recipes, and convenient touchscreen.
1. Coffee Flavor
The Winner: Jura Z8
+Grinder
The grinder is major feature affecting coffee flavor. I am sure Jura Z8 and Jura We8 will not disappoint you. They both feature an Aroma G3 conical burr grinder that offer 6 different settings for grinding coffee ground. This is similar to many otherJura’s product lines. So I don’t have to say too much about its effectiveness.
From my experience with both, their grinders work well and grind coffee beans evenly. I have nothing to complain about the overall quality of the ground. They have a grinder that is amazingly silent. I believe It is what we all want about the grinder. You don’t want to make everyone else in the office or in your family annoyed every time you make a hot drink in the morning.
I prefer a robust taste in my coffee, I used to set the grinder at a high level so that the grinder will deliver finer grounds, like from 4 to 6. You can set the grinders to a medium or low setting if you like your coffee or espresso to have a flavor profile that is balanced, nutty, and slightly sweet.
+Dosing + Tamping
We know that these models are bean-to-cup coffee machine. Therefore, dosing and tamping are fully automatic on both of them. It is the characteristic of a home coffee maker that we are looking for. The great degree of automation these machines possess makes them well worth the money they cost.
The coffee dose can range from 5 to 16 grams, depending on your chosen recipe. It is the same on both Z8 and WE8. About coffee flavor, I can get rich, full, and nutty coffee flavor with this pair. And the crema layer is good too. However, I have the impression that Z8 does a little better job of tamping and extracting coffee, given that the crema layer on its espresso is denser and creamier, or, to put it another way, to die for.
I know that if you are a heavy coffee drinker or a strong-coffee lover, you would prefer a higher dose, I would too. We should have no trouble brewing robust coffee with these two. I have always been successful in making strong coffee that satisfies my preferences by either grinding the beans to a finer consistency or increasing the coffee’s strength setting.
+Heating system
Jura Z8 has a heating system that works more effectively than Jura X8. The reason is Jura Z8’s heating system is dual Thermoblocks. It’s designed to heat up rapidly and control the temperature precisely.
About the time gap between the two processes of the two machines, I did not see the difference clearly. However, I can realize the significant difference in milk and brewing temperature.
The Z8 always produces drinks at the right temperature, and they remain hot for significantly longer than drinks by the WE8. Because I like to take my time and savor my coffee, I don’t like it when my cup gets cold too quickly.
That’s why Jura Z8 gets my vote on this round.
2. Utilities
The Winner: Jura Z8
+ Interface
The interface is another difference that we can easily see between these two machines. The display of the Jura Z8 is a touchscreen, whereas the display of the Jura WE8 is a combination of buttons and a TFT screen.
The interface does not affect the function of the machine, but it affects your experience when using it. I find using a touchscreen rather than buttons more convenient because I’m used to swiping with my phone. The touch screen also brings a much more modern appearance. Additionally, cleaning is much more effortless than cleaning the buttons on the WE8.
+ Speciality coffees
Another important difference that makes Jura Z8 deserve to be the winner is it gets access to more speciality coffee recipes. The Jura Z8 allows you to produce an extensive list of beverages, including 21 different pre-programmed drinks, whereas the WE8 offers 12 pre-programmed recipes. You only need to press one button on the machine in order to make any of the pre-programmed beverages.
Even though these programs are already set by the machine’s algorithm, Jura gives you a chance to customize them. The coffee’s strength, the amount of water in the cup, and the beverage’s temperature may all be easily adjusted to suit your taste.
The WE8 is a good choice if you want an easy-to-use machine that can make standard beverages such as espresso, ristretto, cappuccino, and flat white, among other options. However, if you want all of the basics and more specialized recipes such as Americano, barista, and coffee jug, then Z8 is the best choice for you.
+ Spout
We can see that Jura WE8 has two spouts. All milk-based drinks will be prepared on the right-hand spout. Coffee beverages like espresso or coffee will be prepared in the center. So, the separate hot water spout takes responsibility for preserving the flavor of drinks. Milk will not be mixed with espresso. In contrast, in the Jura Z8, every beverage is prepared in the center.
Having two separated spouts is no problem for users who have used the machine a few times before but it can be challenging for first-time users.
3. Milk system
The winner: It’s a Tie!
Steam and froth milk processes on both machines are 100% automatic. However, the carafe used to store milk does not come with the devices, and we need to purchase them separately.
What I like is that we can switch from steamed milk to milk foam so easily on both of them.
I have made countless lattes with these machines, and the layering is so amazing that it’s hard for me not to take pictures of the drinks each time.
However, if you hope to produce dry foam using one of these devices, you will be disappointed. They are made to make soft, fluffy, and moist foam. You can expect an airy texture. However, dry foam is not their area of expertise.
4. Cleaning & Maintain
The winner: Jura Z8
Cleaning or maintaining Jura Z8 and WE8 is a breeze. First of all, toss out the ground puck on the ground container and water on the water drip tray. Then, drop a cleaning tablet in the pre-ground coffee path, and choose the deep clean option in the cleaning menu. The machines done the rest.
But Z8 comes out on top because of its auto-purge capability. When I read the instructions, I looked for a section that explained how to use the auto-purge function, but I couldn’t find one. I’m not sure if I missed something or not. However, anytime I turn the machine on or off, hot water immediately comes out of the nozzles to clean any leftover coffee or milk. So, a big thumbs up for that.
+ Capacity
I am really impressed with Jura WE8’s capacity. It has a 101 oz water tank, which is significantly more than the 81.3 oz tank you’ll find on Jura Z8. This is equivalent to around 30 cups of your everyday coffee. The hopper of the WE8 has a capacity of 17.6 ounces, nearly as twice the capacity of the Z8’s hopper.
The WE8 is an excellent choice for use in busy households or in a small office. This machine can even be an excellent addition to a coffee drinking station in a restaurant, a bar, a salon, or any other business that aims to wow its clients and customers.
With a large capacity, the hopper and tank will need to be filled less often.
Jura WE8 vs Z8: Similarities
Auto-recognition with the CLEARYL water filter
Manu users are unaware that in order to make water filters actually operate, they need first to configure both the filters and the machines. After a while, you may wonder why there has a scale in the water tank.
If you don’t want this to happen, you should know that WE8 and Z8 have a system that automatically recognizes CLEARYL water filters. Just put the filter in its place in the water tank, and it’s done. When it is time to change the filter, Z8 and WE8 will display a notification on the screen.
Side water tank
For me, having a side water tank is a really convenient feature to have. I don’t have to move the entire machine to fill the water, which is something that I typically have to do with less expensive espresso makers. The Jura WE8 and Z8 are wonderful choices for users who like the practicality of side tanks illuminated by blue light.
