Don’t miss my review for the Saeco Xelsis vs Siemens EQ 9 battle! The truth is both devices boast intelligent technology, but due to Saeco Xelsis accessibility in the US, it’s much easier to reach a warranty in case any error appears. But the machine itself boasts very impressive features! As a result, the device wins fair and square!

Saeco Xelsis is equipped with a Dual Thermoblock for optimum temperature control. Its grinder delivers even ground with no noisy sound to disturb your morning. In case you are sharing the machine with your family members or roommates, make great use of its 6 individual user profiles and 2 more for guests. I highly recommend this mid-range machine.

As for the runner-up Siemens EQ 9, it boasts a stable grinder, potent milk frother, and a good child-lock system to keep the kids away from unwanted espresso making or burning themselves. What bothers me is that the machine isn’t very popular in the US; thus, sending it to get fixed on the warranty isn’t easy and can be frustrating.

Saeco Xelsis vs Siemens EQ 9: Differences

Saeco Xelsis wins 3-1 against Siemens EQ 9. The warranty is better, and the water tank design is more convenient for removal. Check out the details below!

Espresso extraction

Winner: Siemens EQ 9

Saeco Xelsis extracts coffee essence using a 15-bar pump pressure, while Siemens EQ 9 uses 19 bars. Here is when I started to detect variations in the extraction. Both machines brew very rich cups, but Saeco Xelsis’s lean toward the more balanced and mellow flavor side. As for Siemens EQ 9, the flavor is bolder without being bitter. So it’s obvious that the 19-bar pump pressure of the latter model works like a charm on medium to light roasts.

What bothers me is that there is no telling what the heating element of Siemens EQ 9 is. It’s an inbuilt part of the machine, and I can’t encounter the information anywhere. Of course, by now, the device’s temperature performance is proper. But if it’s equipped with an old single boiler, the result will fluctuate significantly in a few years, and the machine isn’t a small investment either.

As for Saeco Xelsis, the device is equipped with a Dual Thermoblock. And the efficiency and intelligence of the technology are reflected through each cup. So I get steaming espresso at around 175-180°F and cappuccino or latte macchiato at around 155°F.

Milk frother

Winner: Saeco Xelsis

The pair are doing things right, from milk foam to milk circuit cleaning. Both are equipped with 100% hands-free milk frothing technology with certain adjustable aspects to them. For example, Saeco Xelsis offers both milk length and texture change, while Siemens EQ 9 focuses on the milk length only. In this regards, Saeco Xelsis has the higher ground.

Of course, being machines with milk carafes/containers and automatic milk frothing, it’s guaranteed that the milk texture can reach microfoam quality, which is drier and airier. However, Saeco Xelsis is the better option if you want creamier milk due to its programmability.

And after finishing frothing the milk, the circuits get cleaned with an automatic process as well. With Saeco Xelsis’s tube, the HygieSteam will integrate high-pressure water with hot temperature to clean the entire tube and milk path. So if you want the best latte or cappuccino quality after each brewing session, use this quick and simple method to rinse the milk system.

Warranty

Winner: Saeco Xelsis

Due to being a popular machine from a popular brand in the US, the warranty and customer service of Saeco Xelsis are much better than Siemens EQ 9. On the other hand, the latter device is more widely used in the UK and Germany. Thus, if something is wrong with it, it isn’t very easy to have it fixed and for users to take advantage of the warranty. For this reason alone, I already advise against Siemens EQ 9, despite its formidable option.

Water tank design

Winner: Saeco Xelsis

Saeco Xelsis boasts a standard frontal access water tank that is very easy to remove. Despite its smaller capacity 57 oz, I still prefer this one to the one on Siemens EQ 9. The latter model has a water tank compartment where you have to tilt it to reveal the water tank inside, then pull it out. The design doesn’t save space, and I’m worried about its leverage and durability. On the other hand, its proud 77.8 oz water tank is very impressive.
